The CS department organized the 2009 Doctoral Research Symposium on April 30, 2009. This is an annual symposium where CS graduate students at UMass Boston present their latest research results. The top 3 performers were selected by a jury of faculty judges (inside and outside the university) and each received a certificate of Research Excellence Award with a prize money. 

Congratulations to Shilpa and Charlie, two members of NISLab, for being the 1st Place and 3rd Place winners of the event. Shilpa was awarded for her research on A Parsimonious Statistical Protocol for Generating Power-Law Networks and Charlie was awarded for his research on Publish/Subscribe Techniques for P2P Networks, both projects under Dr. Tran's supervision.
